Types of Bidding and Registration

How to Register for an Auction

Now that you have created an account you will want to bid on an upcoming sale, to do so you will need to register to bid for that specific auction. Log In to your account by clicking the Log In button at the top right. Once logged in and under Upcoming Auctions click on the Register Now button located at the specific sale you wish to register for. This will prompt a pop-up that has two check boxes, once both boxes are checked click Complete Registration. Congratulations you have been registered for the sale.

Online Absentee Bidding

Once registered for the sale online click the View Catalog button and browse through the available lots. When you are ready to place a bid you can either click Place Bid which will bid the next increment or in the text box put your max bid amount and then click Place Bid. This will prompt a pop-up that will have you click the Confirm button. If you are the highest bidder or outbid the item will be marked as such below the bid button.

An absentee bid is a bid left in advance of the sale date with the auction house website which will bid on your behalf. When absentee bidding we suggest leaving the highest price you are willing to pay. Bidding in this method is always confidential and the bidding will only advance at the set increments being raised by competing bidders.

Live Online Bidding

All Live Premier Collector auctions are also offered live online. These sales are considered simulcast auctions which means that the catalog and bidding is simultaneously transmitted on multiple bidding platforms, on the phone, and live in-person.

To participate in the Live Online Bidding a bidder must first create an account and register for the particular sale. When registering please include correct information and make sure that you enter a valid credit card number as well as check both the accepting terms and conditions and contact boxes to ensure approval.

Once your registration has been approved, you may login on the day of the auction to follow along and place your bids online. Online Absentee Bidding will still function and bids can be placed by absentee up until the specific item goes Live. To bid “Live” click on ___ button which will enter you into the Live Bidding Console which is directly linked to the auction clerk on the auction house floor.

The North American Auction app allows you to browse upcoming sales, track lots, share or save your favorite lots, livestream auctions and bid live from your mobile device from the convenience of anywhere. Our app is compatible with IOS and Android. Download the North American Auction app from the Apple App Store or Google Play to begin mobile bidding now.

Phone Bidding

In some events a bidder would prefer to bid by Telephone. Phone bidding allows the bidder to be called prior to their item going live on the sale date by an auction house representative who will bid on your behalf in real time. To register as a phone bidder you must fill out the phone bidder request form.

Below is the Credit Card Authorization Phone Bidding form. Please fill out the form completely in order to be approved as a Phone Bidder in an upcoming sale. The red flags throughout the form will point to areas that need to be completed. The bottom bar will show your document progress. The dots along the right side will indicate if a page is completed by green or not completed in red. Once all the fields are completed a Submit button will appear.

For more info in regards to phone bidding view the Phone Bidding page.

In-Person Bidding

All simulcast auctions are held with In-Person Live Bidding. Our auction admission is free and open to the public with no requirement to bid. For Live In-Person Auctions we host an preview day, typically the day before the sale, as well as an open gallery for bidding on the day of the sale. To bid at the in-person event registration is required. Registrations requires your full contact info, photo identification, credit card info, and agreement to all Terms and Conditions of Sale. This can be done at the check-in station front desk.

Once the auction has begun the auctioneer will sell the catalog in number order, clearly announcing the lot number and next bid being asked. To place a bid, simply raise your bid card number to the auctioneer for his recognition. When the bidding is nearing completion, the auctioneer will give you fair warning, sell the item to the final bidder and announce the sold hammer price and the successful bidder number. When you are finished bidding on the lots you are interested in, return to the check-in station front desk where you can examine your invoice and make arrangements for payment and pickup.
